It’s February, the 2nd month of 2015. January had really been a chaotic month for me getting adjusted to the new  schedules for myself and the kids.

Since my last update there hasn’t been any  progress getting lower down the scale. My weight has in fact increased a bit from 66.5kg -67kg. I think I have been indulging in too much Pre CNY snacking  as we prepare for Chinese New Year later this month.

Changes in exercise routine

The Pilates class didn’t materialize as the class got cancelled even before it started.   I guess that maybe it’s not for me at the moment as getting a class on weekdays that fits between 9-11am is a real challenge.   I’ve doubled up on Zumba classes instead and have been going for Zumba  classes conducted by iFiesta  twice weekly.   I’m also  spending more time in front of the small screen these few days as I work out with WII Active which was in cold storage since Tiger girl was born.  I’m doing that workout once a week  in between the Zumba classes together with a session of HOT Yoga which I follow via you tube.

 

New Apps ( Review)

I’ve been using both Noom Coach and Out of milk since last month. Comparing the usefulness of both apps I find that Noom Coach is the app that I use on a daily basis to track what I have been eating. I noticed that certain foods cause water retention and made me feel bloated. I had to cut down and substitute the food item so that  I would feel better.  I’ve stopped using Out of milk as I find that it is really troublesome to go grocery shopping and refer to a list on the phone. I rather concentrate on zooming in on the items which I wish to purchase and just go to the particular aisle directly for the item.  It was more time consuming and redundant for me to physically tick off the items on the list on the phone.  It is only after testing out the app for a while then one would know which app is necessary and which one can be uninstalled.

New Things I’m trying out

I’m testing out shape wear together with toning creams to see if they do help in targeting my mid section and firming up my abs while reducing the spare tire.  I believe that if you feel good you will look good too and it will definitely do wonders for one’s confidence level.

What I may be considering

I’ve been thinking about getting a Mi band ( and maybe a XiaoMi phone too) to track my sleeping pattern. I’ve been having rather poor sleep for the past 10+ years since #1 was born . Even though diffusing essential oils like Lavender has helped me a better night rest it is still not optimal sleep. Maybe if I was able to track my sleeping pattern it would give me an insight to why I’ve been having such restless nights.

It has been another month since I last checked in.  I haven’t had much progress since I started the weight lost challenge. In fact the year end holidays had put a damper on my attempt to lose weight. I’m still stagnant at 66.5kg.

All the holiday feasting and being on vacation has made it difficult for me to reduce weight. I have also been very slack in doing regular exercise and it hasn’t helped me a bit. Now that the kids are all back in school I’m able to kick start my exercise routine again with a more scheduled time table.

New Classes

I’ve signed up for Zumba and Beginner Pilates classes at the local community center and will be commencing classes shortly.  I too am making a point to go for a brisk  walk in the park every day after sending Tiger girl to school. I’m thinking of joining  a few more Zumba classes during the week but will have to see how to work it into the current schedule.

New Apps

I’ve added the app Noom Coach to my android phone and have been logging in what I eat daily. It helps me to be more conscious about my choices and make me more prudent in staying away from high calories and sugar laden foods.

The other app which I had added is Out of Milk  which helps me plan my grocery list and to-do list on the go. I stumbled upon on Facebook while I was browsing through some groups which I am a member of. This app  allows me to list down the items that need to be bought at the supermarket into the different categories and helps me take note of the prices.

I tried it out recently when I went grocery shopping and had fun ticking off the items one by one. Using the app helped me ensure that I got everything that I needed and minimized the chance of having to go for another grocery run for items which I had previously missed out.

New Diet

Being 36 I noticed that my metabolic rate has slow down quite a bit.  I do not lose weight as easily and have to put in double the effort to get the same results. It is exasperating at times as you  it means that I am moving along at a snails pace instead of the speed which I would like.

I’m adding more salads into my diet and cutting out more processed foods, refined carbs and sugars.  Since November I have stopped buying Ham, Bacon and Sausages for the kids to eat.  I’ve also increase the variety of vegetables and fruits that are available during meal times at home.

I hope to see a lower number on the scale soon.

 

 

1st Check – My Weight Loss Journey

It has been slightly more then a month since I put myself on this weight lost challenge.  I’ve been more prudent with what I am eating on a daily basis and have been taking note of my intake. I’ve tried cutting down on processed foods and carbohydrates.  I’ve reduced the amount of bread, noodles and rice that I take and increase the amount of vegetables and fruits. I’ve cut of soda and sweet drinks and removed most of the processed foods that we have at home.

I’m trying to prepare more wholesome food for the family which means more meals cooked from scratch so that I introduce the least amount of preservatives and chemicals to the kids.

It’s not easy deciding on what to cook for each one to eat everyday.  I have to cook nutritious meals for the kids while preparing separate meals for myself. On most days I prepare salads for myself as it’s the easiest and fastest to do. The kids are not really into meats so I normally serve either Chicken or Fish to them with a side of vegetables and soup.

I’ve  hoping to start a regular exercise routine come 2015.  It will be difficult incorporating exercise this end of year holiday season as the kids are with me 24/7. I will try to bring them out to the park as often as the weather permits so that we can get some exercise and fun play in the sun.

I know that it isn’t easy to be discipline and focus on the target of 55kg. It has been a year of no progress so far and I’ve even increased in my weight.

There are some major adjustments that have to be made and I’m  sure with my faith in GOD I will be able to make is time.

 

So where am I so far ?

 

Two  weeks into this challenge I’m down a bit from  68kg to 66.5kg. That’s about a 1.5kg loss so far.  I will not be measuring inches and taking any before and after photo for comparison as this record is for my own personal use and not any group challenge that I am on.

I’m hoping to see a further decrease in weight in my next check in next month. 🙂
