Strawberry Shortcake and Chocolate Cake

Strawberry Shortcake

I have always love eating cakes and am always on the look out for cafes that sell delicious cakes.  You can say that I am quite particular  about the taste and presentation of the cake. It has to appeal to me visually and satisfy my taste buds. Ever since I started baking back in 2007 I have grown more interested in the different types of cakes and how they are baked.

Strawberry Shortcake is one of the cakes which I have yet to learn to bake. It  seems a bit complicating at first with the layering but  I’m sure I will be able to figure it out once I get a suitable recipe to try out.

I love how there is more then one variety of chocolate in the cake shown above.  There is two distinct types of chocolate being use in the cake and the lower layer has nuts embedded in the chocolate making it crunchy when you sink your teeth into that layer.  This cake is also on my “learn to  bake” list.

Do you have any cakes that you intend to learn how to bake?

Looking through the Grills

Through the grills
Through the grills

I love cast iron grills for it’s sturdy solid look.  It gives one the sense of protection from the unknown . A sense of security and peace.  There are many intrigue patterns which make up the grill. The twisting and turning of the cast iron to form curves and repeated patterns gives the place a sense of grandeur.

The grills are not only there for aesthetics purposes but to provide safety for the occupant of the building.  Grills help to prevent accidents from happening (like people falling over the ledge)  and also to give character to the building structure.

Grill  help define/frame the object in. It gives us a different perspective of things while looking through them.

What do you see when you look through the grills?

Evoking A Dash of Color

Back View of father and son
Back View of father and son

Sometimes it can be hard to focus on one part of life. There is too many things coming fast and furious at you.  It may see extremely difficult to focus on a single issue at a time.

You need to be able to mute out all the unimportant parts and concentrate on what really matters to you.  As you can see in the photo above I am  placing my focus on my boy and his dad but making that part of the picture colored while the rest of the photo black and white. There needs to be a focal point in life for you to work towards.

Especially in photography there has to be a focal point to draw the attention of the reader/viewer to what you want to place emphasis on. Presenting too much in a shot will certainly clutter it up and make it difficult to focus. By guiding your audience you will be able to let them know what is the main point in the shot or the reason ( in this case) for this focal point.

The bonding between father and son. Extremely precious and precocious. Something that has to be carefully tended to. A relationship which will last throughout the ages and survive the challenges which life may throw at it.

I hope that father and son will be able to enjoy more such moments of one to one bonding with each other. It is something in the world which money cannot buy.

How do you use color?
