It’s February, the 2nd month of 2015. January had really been a chaotic month for me getting adjusted to the new schedules for myself and the kids.
Since my last update there hasn’t been any progress getting lower down the scale. My weight has in fact increased a bit from 66.5kg -67kg. I think I have been indulging in too much Pre CNY snacking as we prepare for Chinese New Year later this month.
Changes in exercise routine
The Pilates class didn’t materialize as the class got cancelled even before it started. I guess that maybe it’s not for me at the moment as getting a class on weekdays that fits between 9-11am is a real challenge. I’ve doubled up on Zumba classes instead and have been going for Zumba classes conducted by iFiesta twice weekly. I’m also spending more time in front of the small screen these few days as I work out with WII Active which was in cold storage since Tiger girl was born. I’m doing that workout once a week in between the Zumba classes together with a session of HOT Yoga which I follow via you tube.
New Apps ( Review)
I’ve been using both Noom Coach and Out of milk since last month. Comparing the usefulness of both apps I find that Noom Coach is the app that I use on a daily basis to track what I have been eating. I noticed that certain foods cause water retention and made me feel bloated. I had to cut down and substitute the food item so that I would feel better. I’ve stopped using Out of milk as I find that it is really troublesome to go grocery shopping and refer to a list on the phone. I rather concentrate on zooming in on the items which I wish to purchase and just go to the particular aisle directly for the item. It was more time consuming and redundant for me to physically tick off the items on the list on the phone. It is only after testing out the app for a while then one would know which app is necessary and which one can be uninstalled.
New Things I’m trying out
I’m testing out shape wear together with toning creams to see if they do help in targeting my mid section and firming up my abs while reducing the spare tire. I believe that if you feel good you will look good too and it will definitely do wonders for one’s confidence level.
What I may be considering
I’ve been thinking about getting a Mi band ( and maybe a XiaoMi phone too) to track my sleeping pattern. I’ve been having rather poor sleep for the past 10+ years since #1 was born . Even though diffusing essential oils like Lavender has helped me a better night rest it is still not optimal sleep. Maybe if I was able to track my sleeping pattern it would give me an insight to why I’ve been having such restless nights.
How has the journey to keeping fit been for you in January?
It has certainly been a long time since I’ve revisited this space. The last entry here was four months ago in July. I’ve been so preoccupied with developing Dominique’s Desk and focusing on the kids that this blog has been neglected. I haven’t had time to experiment with different photography techniques as I haven’t been snapping as many photographs.
I’ve been trying out more dishes though but have posted them to instagram instead as it’s really more convenient to snap and post up on it as compared to blogging about the dishes/ bakes that I have tried this few months. Some of the times I forget to snap a picture before I start eating the dish. On several occasions the dishes don’t really look very camera worthy due to me putting it together haphazardly. ( Focusing on getting the dish to the table for dinner is my priority over arranging it in a nice presentation)
I think I need to revamp my schedule so that this blog doesn’t get neglected again. No doubt I don’t intend to post here as regularly as the other main blog and I have yet to figure out what to do to make full use of this space.
It feels like I’ve hit a rocky patch in regards to this blog and have yet to think through carefully on which direction to take. I don’t want to duplicate the type of post on both blogs as both should have their own unique characteristics. I have been reflecting a lot on how I am leading my life this year and quite happy where I am at the moment.
Even though I still have some challenges to complete I am working my way towards getting them done before their deadlines. I have been lucky to be able to have the opportunity to travel frequently each year and experience a change of scenery. Last month we traveled to the island of Bintan, Indonesia and the kids and I got to enjoy the sun and the sand. It has been quite a while since I last went to the beach and it was certainly great to be able to feel the soft white sand in between my toes while listening to the waves lapping against the shoreline.
It was really refreshing to have the sea breeze blowing at you racing around on a jet ski while I was in Bintan. It felt as if I was like a bird flying across the surface of the water without a care in the world. It was surprisingly thrilling and relaxing experience to me being on the jet ski for the first time. Nobody was the wiser that I hid the fact that I do have a phobia of drowning. I used to stay away from being in the sea due to this fear and still pass on the opportunity to go scuba diving. I guess as I grow older I try to face up to my fears and not let them paralyze me.
I guess that it will take me a bit longer to decide how to efficiently use this blog. Meanwhile I’m open to any suggestions that you readers may have. Do let me know in the comments below.
It has certainly been a long while since I last posted in this blog. Initially I had the idea of posting my photography and travel pictures over here however since the start of the year I’ve been much more busy to be able to post regularly to this site and am posting on my main site- Dominique’s Desk more regularly.
I’ve decided that I will be using this site more to experiment with different techniques which I may learn in photography and showcase my latest adventures in my culinary pursuit. There are many different dishes that I wish to try out and have yet to get around to cook or bake.
At present I am thinking of experimenting and trying out more Korean dishes as I recently bought a Korean Cookbook. The recipes inside that cookbook do not look too complicated and the ingredients relatively easy to purchase from the nearby grocery stores. I aim to try about one to two new dishes a month and also work on tweaking the existing dishes within my compilation cooking file to make the dishes more tasty and healthy.
I do love traveling and taking pictures. I will be featuring my travel pictures both here and on the other blog but focusing on different details and angles. This way there will be no overlapping of post and I’m able to share my views on different aspects reading travel photography and other more technical related matters.
