Mary Kay Moisturizers and Parabens

oil free hydrating gel

Parabens are antifungal and preservatives that are widely used in cosmetics. Because it is easily absorbed through the skin and is generally considered non-irritating they can be found in many beauty product ingredient and is used to prevent fungal growth and to generally preserve formulas.

Methylparaben, butylparaben, and propylparaben are some of the most common parabens in cosmetics. Other chemicals in this class generally have “paraben” in their names (e.g., isobutylparaben, ethylparaben, etc.).

It is a controversial product and has been linked to breast cancer.  Therefore I’ve decided if it is possible to avoid this particular ingredient.

There are many articles on the internet telling about the dangers of paraben and how it alters your hormones which may cause tumors.

I like this product as compared to the TW moisturizer as it is more hydrating and less sticky.  However after learning the breakdown of its combination I have decided to discontinue the use of the product and look for a “Safe” alternative after I have used up my existing  stock.
